What Inspires You?

Editor's Note: We saw a longer version of this blog a few months ago and were inspired by the support that Beeline provides to the global community. We asked if we could share it with the SIG community to inspire other companies to do more and/or to share what they do. Please read below...be inspired...and share your own wonderful work with us!

What Inspires You? I have been thinking about this question for several months now, no doubt due to the "Be Inspired" theme from the 2013 Beeline Conference. After hearing from such amazing speakers like Derreck Kayonga (the Global Soap Project) and Robert X. Fogarty (the Dear World project), I felt overwhelmingly inspired. See photo where SIG's own Dawn Evans participated in the Deear World project.

Their projects have affected countless lives around the world, which really got me thinking about Beeline's philanthropy. Every day at Beeline, my colleagues make a choice to place an importance on giving back to the community. One thing is certain: I am inspired by the generosity of others.

Typhoon Relief After thousands lost their lives (and countless remain homeless) from the typhoon that struck the Philippines in November 2013, Beeline immediately set up a fund to support relocation and rebuilding efforts. The Beeline office located in Manila spent a Saturday packing supplies for the victims of this typhoon and made the decision to cut certain budgeted items. Feeling inspired to help, several Filipino colleagues in the Beeline Jacksonville office immediately set up a Typhoon Donation Luncheon and made traditional Filipino food. Between both offices' efforts, Beeline raised $9,564.47 to support this effort.

The Children's Home Society Every year during the holidays, Beeline sponsors children from The Children's Home Society. Beeline works with this charity to receive a list of the children's names, ages, clothing sizes, and wish lists. In a matter of days, individual colleagues (or teams) sign up to support these children. They go shopping and work together to get everything the children need. It is extremely heartwarming to see the Beeline office overflowing with gifts year after year.

Movember For the month of November, several Beeline men register on Movember.com to raise awareness and funds for men's health. On November 1, they start with a clean-shaven face, and for the full 30 days of November, they grow out their moustache (or beard) of choice. In 2013, the Beeline men signed up with a company goal to raise a minimum of $1,000, but they exceeded this goal by raising $1,820!

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) / Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Every year, Beeline colleagues sponsor multiple bake sales in support of different causes. Colleagues whip up some baked goods and everyone is encouraged to donate a few dollars before taking a plateful. In April 2013, Beeline's bake sale was in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), which netted a nice amount of $472. We held another bake sale on Valentine's Day 2014 in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and raised $505.75.

Hope Haven Do you have grass-skirt-wearing, knife-and-fire-throwing colleagues? We do! Three of our colleagues are members of the Prince Pele Polynesian show and the group performs every year for a celebration at Hope Haven, a summer camp for youth with developmental or physical disabilities. Beeline provides all the food, pays for the entertainment, and our colleagues truly enjoy supporting this event. I could go on and on about the many ways that Beelines gives back to the community. It is inspiring to see such philanthropy and to know that it is such a huge part of Beeline's culture. I am truly proud to be a part of the Beeline family.
