Procurement professionals can have tremendous impact on their organizations as catalysts. They are in the fortunate position of being able to see across the entire company, however all too often do not take full advantage of that opportunity. While technical procurement skills are definitely table stakes, do we place too much importance on them as we build our teams? Does that result in teams skilled at getting the best value for money for the products and services that your stakeholders think they want . . . rather than creatively using supply markets to solve difficult problems, or to take advantage of revenue opportunities? How can we be catalysts personally and create an environment for our teams to do the same?
This session is based on learnings and insight from over 100 interviewees.

For a procurement, sourcing, travel function to thrive and be relevant it must focus on valued business outcomes. The compliance role needs to be balanced. In keeping with that mindset, don't miss out on value opportunities by self-selecting the role you play. It is important to take stock and do a fearless inventory of the business needs to understand perceptions, capabilities, reputational risks and how they align to your customer. Only by fearlessly looking at your team and the noted elements can you begin to understand your true brand potential. The goal should be a trusted advisor to the business.
