Job Summary:

The Vail Resorts Procurement Team is committed to building leaders and driving value.  We are creating a world-class procurement organization headquartered near Boulder, Colorado. The Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for driving value and leading innovation across multiple categories (Goods, Services, & Energy) within the Resort Operations team. This role reports to the Sr Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Category Management, and is based in the Company’s Broomfield, Colorado headquarters. This leader will manage strategic initiatives with high visibility, leveraging strong cross-functional collaboration and implementation of best in class sourcing activities. This position requires analytical proficiency, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities and proven contract negotiation skills. Come create your experience of a lifetime!

  • The budgeted range starts at $74,100 - $96,465 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic thinking, thought leadership and supplier management in Goods, Services, & Energy spend areas.
  • Perform best in class sourcing activities from end to end including spend and market analysis, sourcing strategy, RFx, negotiations, contracting, process improvement, and ongoing supplier and stakeholder management.
  • Develop and execute multi-year category strategies, aligning Vail Resorts’ sourcing objectives and strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Inspire trust and build strong, positive, productive relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Cultivate leadership skills and create an environment of continual improvement both in and outside of your team.
  • Develop and support key metrics (TCO, Supplier KPIs, Program Compliance, Savings Pipeline) to ensure needs of business are met.
  • Demonstrate an unyielding passion for the guest experience, culture, mission and vision.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Capabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading strategic sourcing projects and multi-year category strategies from inception to implementation including strategic planning, negotiation, and contracting in indirect spend categories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and complex problem solving with the ability to develop pricing models appropriate for the goods/services being sourced.
  • Comfortable developing and presenting complex initiatives to gain strategic alignment with a variety of stakeholders across the business.
  • Financially oriented and can tie strategies and initiatives back to value.
  • Collaborative and influential team player.
  • High degree of ethics and integrity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Sourcing & Procurement – Masters’ Degree in lieu of partial experience is acceptable
  • Category ownership within MRO, Goods, Services, Utilities, and/or Fuel spaces is preferred 
  • SCM Certifications a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated project management experience and excellent communication skills


The budgeted range starts at $74,100 - $96,465 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
