During this session Dick’s Sporting Goods will present its strategy for segmenting suppliers within the appropriate purchasing channels using data from spend categories, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and locations. These placements have increased visibility to organizational spend, enhanced the ability to monitor contract compliance, and created a consistent process for both buyers and suppliers.

Ramon Catania leads the Procurement Operations team for Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. and is responsible for the downstream [procure-to-pay] activities within non-merchandise departments including Marketing, Facilities, Construction, Store Operations, IT, Distribution, Human Resources, Finance and Legal. His team creates value through the analysis and interpretation of contracts, monitoring transactional compliance, segmenting suppliers, leveraging procurement channels, and enhancing the utilization of eCatalogs. Ramon’s team manages the organization’s No PO, No Pay policy for indirect spend, standardizing the transactional purchasing process for indirect spend and enhancing the visibility of risk and opportunity across the organization.

Prior to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ramon worked in various operational and managerial roles at the Cleveland Clinic.

He is a Certified Professional in Supply Management through the Institute of Supply Management and holds a BA and MBA from John Carroll University.
